MacGyver Reboot Fic Ideas

 Okay, MacGyver Reboot fandom, I know you exist.  You are small, but you are out there, and while the show isn’t perfect there is potential there and it’s shining.  So, allow me to direct you to some original-flavor MacGyver episodes you can use as jumping-off points for fic, if you so desire:

 

• Nightmares–MacGyver is poisoned, and the effects are basically contrived in a perfect way for fanfic-style character mistreatment–he’s disoriented, in pain, and his memories are confused, so he can’t manage to contact help.  He also has a time limit to either give the bad guys information they want, and get an antidote, or die.  A runaway teenager finds him and ends up taking care of him.
• Rock The Cradle–Jack finds a baby outside his plane with a note saying it’s his; MacGyver and Jack try to take care of it while also looking for the absentee mother.  Reboot!Jack would probably know what to do with a baby, but not with the Sudden Responsibility, so you could still get some mileage out of this.
• On a Wing and a Prayer–Pete Thorton (Patricia Thorton’s old-series parallel) is in South America doing charity work during a coup d’etat.  He’s injured, and Jack and MacGyver have to mount a rescue mission. The original episode was funny and angsty by turns; a fic could go either way.
• Brainwashed–What it says on the tin.  In the original episode, a president from a fictional African country was visiting, and the VP and his wife brainwashed Jack so he would kill him.  This could be a pretty good fic, given that reboot!Jack is actually a sniper.
• Ugly Duckling–A missile is stolen from the government, and the only one who can stop it is a fifteen-year-old who hacked into the DEA and messed with its targeting system before the theft, so MacGyver has to keep her safe.  And you thought I was gonna neglect Riley?  As much as I loved the original episode, having some girls-in-STEM bonding courtesy the reboot’s new cast member would be a welcome improvement.
