Headcanon A:  realistic

Celestial Being is a bit of an odd experience for Saji, and for reasons beyond the obvious. Back in Tokyo, he was always one of the most mature people his age in any given setting. As an orphan who took care of most of the housework for an older sister who worked full-time, he’d grown up quickly in some senses. But he didn’t realize how much of a childhood Kinue had still managed to give him until he compared himself to Setsuna and Feldt. Feeling like the immature one is new for him, and he doesn’t like it, on a number of levels.

Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious

One thing that Saji doesn’t expect to gain through his brief military career, but does nonetheless, is a wider cooking repertoire. Celestial Being is international, and while the kitchens aren’t exactly well-stocked, he still ends up picking up at least one or two recipes from a number of members.  Louise approves.

Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends

Saji never finds out why Kinue died.  After he finds out that the main branch of Celestial Being itself wasn’t responsible for her death, he tries to investigate further, but Corner was too smart to keep records of what he asked Al-Saachez to do. Saji suspects Corner and his CB-adjacent organization, of course, but he never finds proof.

Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.

Saji eventually processes his desire to disassociate himself from his brief military career and accepts those events as things that happened and were even somewhat formative, rather than continuing to pretend to himself that he was minimally involved, as the movie seems to suggest.

Everyone has their own ideas of what kind of music the characters like, and I honestly think it’s more fun that way, but I wanted to think about when the characters first experienced it, and how.

The Meisters vary a lot.  Setsuna’s town probably had a few elders with old, near-broken instruments–and one or two nearly-broken radios that occasionally picked up a staticky music station or two.  Neil and Lyle lived in an Irish city–they probably have childhood memories of going to family pubs with live musicians.  Tieria’s first experience was probably another member of Celestial Being leaving their music playing in a common area.  The first experience Allelujah remembers is probably soft classical music being piped through the sleeping quarters in an attempt to stimulate the young Super-Soldiers’ brain function.  Saji’s first experience was probably children’s songs tapes.

The Trinities probably found a radio station entirely by accident while looking for information, and then liked it.  Marina’s mother sang to her–she was probably where Marina got her love of singing from.  I don’t want to go through the whole cast, but the idea intrigues me.

People remember where they were when Aeolia Schenberg’s message aired, or when they first heard about it–not everyone has a TV, obviously, but everyone eventually got word and everyone remembers when.

Fifty years later, Louise and Saji tell the next generation’s kids about standing around that big-screen TV in their school, casually curious and baffled all at once.  Over such a distance of years, it seems to them that the moment had some deep significance, that they somehow knew it would change everything.

But really, at the time, Saji was nervous but sure that this would blow over, that the old man on television was making promises he wouldn’t be able to keep.  And Louise was more worried about the test she had later that week than some grainy footage full of dramatic pronouncements.

Everyone remembers, because, at the time, everyone thought it was weird, a story to tell their children for sure.  And it was.  But it was a different story than they expected.
