Basically, a grand master list of where you can find all the extra stuff related to my fics, as well as various other stuff I want to link.  I used to keep this on FFN but then the site broke all the links, so…

When I could, I tried to link archive sites like DeviantArt and Pixiv, which are good sites for posting art but occasionally have NSFW ads, so be warned.

All art that isn’t otherwise attributed is by me.

Anonymous said: Kido for the headcanon meme please?

Headcanon A:  realistic

She is the type who plays a single song on loop for days. Kano knows and thinks it’s hilarious.

Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious

She is pretty uncomfortable with her powers for the most part, but she’s not above using them to sneak up on people as a prank…or at least trying.  Kano always hears her coming.  Seto is startled every time, to the point where it’s not even funny anymore.

Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends

She is trying her best to be the big sister, now, in Ayano’s absence, but she’s not really good at expressing her feelings verbally, and her history with her family and at the orphanage has made physical affection difficult for her as well. She’s best at showing love through her actions–cooking, doing chores, listening to her siblings rant when they need to–but it never feels like enough to her.

Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.

She keeps her powers post-canon. Momo drags her on tour so that she can get time off from constant public scrutiny, and also because Kido deserves a few months of someone else catering all her food.

[tumblr.com profile] ranichi17  said: Has anyone asked for Kisaragi Shintarou in the ask meme yet? Or Miyano Shiho?

This post is gonna be Kisaragi Shintarou since there’s not a lot of people who are in both the Kagepro and DCMK fandoms. I’ll do Shiho in a seperate post.

Headcanon A:  realistic

In terms of real-life instruments, Shintarou can play the piano/keyboard and the guitar, as well as the drums. He had piano lessons in middle school, probably, and he learned guitar in the high school music room without permission before Ayano decided to befriend him.  He’s never tried, but his crap endurance means that he’d be terrible at all woodwind and brass instruments and in general would be laughed out of marching band.

Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious

Yes Shintarou made an Utauloid once, with his own voice. Specifically, back in middle school when his voice was in the middle of changing.  No, no one can ever know about it. Not even Ene will find those files.  He’s deleted all the copies.

Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends

Good endings in which Shintarou uses his powers in the process of ending the time loop come at a cost. He spends the next few months (and the rest of his life, but the next few months are the worst of it) waking up from screaming nightmares of deaths and betrayals and other horrors that both did and didn’t happen as his brain tries to process the massive amount of information he’s suddenly remembered. Everyone is helping each other through these sorts of issues, of course, since the entire Dan is varying degrees of traumatized, but everyone ends up avoiding Shintarou a little at first because it is unnerving as heck to hear a detailed second-person account of your violent murder from your babbling, half-asleep friend.

Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.

I’m very attached to the idea of Shintarou’s condition as a hikkomori being actually treated seriously. A lot of Japanese media don’t take it that seriously, probably because they understand that some people who watch the shows are hikkikomori themselves and don’t necessarily want to confront that kind of thing in their entertainment, but once someone becomes hikkikomori, it generally takes a lot of effort for them to start engaging with the outside world again. It’s classified as a culture-specific mental illness, and it’s not something that will just go away after two days, not even two days on infinite repeat. Especially when those two days on infinite repeat are traumatizing in and of themselves.

 Anonymous said: Seto from Kagepro?

Headcanon A:  realistic

Even once he’s an adult, Seto’s fondness for eye-searing green never quite abates. A lot of the other Dan members move away from their signature colors over time, or only hold on to them for sentimental reasons, but Seto just loves green a lot.

Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious

Whichever of his siblings starts dating first gets spied on via Seto’s animal friends.

Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends

After Ayano died, he spent a week straight avoiding his siblings, because he couldn’t shut out their thoughts, he didn’t think it was right for him to hear any of this, and honestly, he couldn’t handle what he was hearing.

Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.

Seto’s employers around town are looking out for him a bit–they know he and his siblings are on their own and that he’s acting as the breadwinner. He gets leftovers pushed at him on occasion, and no one says anything too harsh when he runs late.

 Anonymous said: Haruka Kokonose?

Headcanon A:  realistic

When Haruka isn’t in his uniform, he prefers loose, comfortable clothes. A lot of his aesthetic choices are actually comfort-based because he doesn’t have the energy to expend on trying to look fancy.

Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious

Haruka is the sole and specific reason that several all-you-can eat buffets in town now have an upward limit on what “all you can eat” means.

Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends

Haruka has a lot of insecurities about himself as a friend, since he’s pretty low on energy and sometimes just ends up at the hospital for weeks at a stretch, so he sometimes has doubts about his friendships with the rest of the Yuukei Quartet.

Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.

Post-Daze, Haruka does permanently need a wheelchair, and while this part is realistic and possibly canon, the non-canon part is him moving into the red-brick house with the rest of the quartet, who promptly make the place as wheelchair accessible as possible.  (I’ve mentioned this once a while ago) And they all live happily from then on.

 the characters i’d ship

Ehhhhh.  Don’t really have crossover ships for this, either.

the characters who would be BFFs

Tsuyu is going to be Seto’s new favorite person.  Not only does she always say what she thinks (no confusing contrasting thoughts) but she’s a frog.

Midoriya get along super-well with Ayano, since they’re both earnest, determined, self-sacrificing, hero-idolizing nerds.  Uraraka and Momo, the relentlessly cheerful girls who got into their current lines of work with their family’s finances in mind, would also bond.  Jirou and Kido would also get along really well, I think, although it’s Hagakure and Kido who end up bonding over powers.  Kaminari and Takane bond over both their similar powers and their awful grades.

Mary would glom onto Shinshou and attempt to pass on Seto’s “you’re not a monster” lesson; he’d probably be surprised enough that it would at least partly work.

All Might would teacher-adopt the whole Dan, honestly.

the characters who would be enemies

Honestly, both series end up along the same basic moral lines. The Dan would have the same basic objections to the Villain Alliance and Hero Killer Stain that the UA Kids do.  While the UA kids wouldn’t have a personal grudge against the Snake of Clearing Eyes, they generally object to murder, so they’d also be enemies with him.  Same for the adult heroes.

the characters who would be allies
I’m pretty sure that, given a chance, the Dan would totally attend UA.  So the Dan would be up for allying with the BnHA cast.  As for the UA kids and teachers, they might think that the way the Dan sneaks around and does “missions” is too much like vigilantes at first, but I think once the Dan explains that there aren’t Pro Heroes or Hero Laws in their reality, they’d be pretty okay with allying with the Dan, too.

the characters who would be allies, but reluctantly
The Villain Alliance and the Snake of Clearing Eyes would try to manipulate one another, and probably both would end up getting at least some of what they wanted out of the other.

the characters who would drive each other bananas
Ayano Does Not Like Bakugou.  He makes Seto think of the kids who used to bully him and Seto won’t speak up for himself of course…so Ayano keeps him well away from Seto by force of personality and following him around when necessary.  Bakugou doesn’t like this.

Kano’s rulebreaking tendencies offend Iida’s sensibilities.

the characters i think are the most alike
Actually, I think I’m gonna go with Momo and Uraraka.  Both of them go into really tough industries with the goal of supporting their families, both of them are super upbeat and cheerful, and both of them are actually really good at strategy.  In a meta-narrative sense, they both end up being the fanservice girls for their respective series.

my favorite character from each fandom & how i think they would get along
Ayano and All-Might?  Ayano would love All-Might, because here’s one of her childhood heroes brought to life.  But if she met him as Toshinori she’d immediately go into mother-hen mode and start trying to take care of him before she even realized what she was doing.  As for All-Might, again, he’d adopt the whole Dan, and he’d find Ayano’s admiration flattering and a little overwhelming, because it becomes clear quickly that she’s as much a hero to the rest of her friends as he is to her, and it’s…a lot, to have the admiration of a person like that.

[tumblr.com profile] hawk-in-a-tree asked: never have I ever written a haruka focuse story post-series (Kagepro)

Nope!  Not published anyway.  I started a snipped of one, might still be on the computer…

Ah, it was a false start for Uploaded On…; I’ll put it here since I’m not sure if I’ll do anything else with it or not.

When it’s all said and done, they bring Haruka home from the hospital to the red brick house, now nicely modified by Seto to be as wheelchair-friendly as a two-story building with no elevator can be.  He still can’t go upstairs, but they’ve moved everything but the bedrooms and the second bathroom downstairs, and they don’t have the budget for an elevator yet.  They’re saving up for one, though, because while the doctors are more optimistic now about treatments for his heart condition, they’re also hesitant about putting his body through the stress of the rehab he’d need to get back muscle tone in his legs after his “coma.”  Haruka, himself, isn’t sure how to feel about the possibility of using a wheelchair long-term or even permanently, but he’s pretty okay with the idea of not dying during physical therapy, so he’s focusing on that for now.

He’s not entirely sure who the red brick house actually belongs to, now–possibly, it’s Ayano’s. Everyone lives there a little bit, though. Ayano and Takane are the only permanent residents.  Shintarou is doing his best to move, but Haruka can see how hard just being outside is for him sometimes.  And Ayano’s siblings seem to love and hate the house by turns; after a few months, they settle into a pattern of visiting rather than staying over.  Mary, most of all, acts like a guest–Haruka thinks that seeing the siblings fall into old patterns with Ayano makes her feel just a bit outside.  The red brick house is also where Hibiya and Hiyori stay, on the rare occasions they come up.

It’s a good home, and Haruka loves it, but sometimes, in the middle of the day, when he’s got nothing to do, the others are all out, and he knows that scrolling the web isn’t going to satisfy him the way it does Shintarou–it feels lonely.

And then, for his first birthday after coming back, Momo and Seto pool their funds to buy him a Wacom tablet, and Shintarou absently reminds him that he used to have a pixiv account.

He doesn’t remember the pixiv account, but Takane kind of does, and Shintarou’s good at this sort of thing, so the three of them track it down and manage to get into it, and within a week Haruka’s account is as resurrected as he is.

(Kano’s sense of humor is rubbing off a little, maybe.)

He rereads some of the manga that he bookmarked fanart for, because his memories of most of them are blurry.  He approves of his younger self’s taste, mostly, though he’s a little embarrassed by some of it.

And then, while checking out some of the newer art, he finds a speedpaint, and thinks, I want to do that.

In retrospect, that is exactly when it starts.

Hi, everyone, and welcome to my first Author Appreciation Week post.  I’m going to be trying to highlight a few less-known authors and fics here.  Thanks, everyone, for writing cool things–and happy reading to anyone who finds a new fic to read through this post!

[archiveofourown.org profile] BlackCats writes character studies even when she’s writing pairing fics, and I love it.  Every character interaction she writes gives you a closer look at how the characters she’s writing think.  Unconscious both incorporates Takane’s narcolepsy as something that actually affects her—the only fic I’ve read that does so—and uses sybolism beautifully.

[archiveofourown.org profile] feralphoenix writes a lot more for other fandoms than she does for KagePro, but what she has written is awesome.  She writes the characters in a way that seems effortless but clearly took some effort, because the voices and actions are all pitch-perfect—even characters that are only “on stage” for a few lines seem fully fleshed out.  In this post, I’d like to highlight the less-known of her two fics, briar prince, thrush princess, viper queen, a post-canon fic which features a Hiyori who is both in character and likeable—no mean feat.

[archiveofourown.org profile] fan_nerd ([tumblr.com profile] weabootrashking on Tumblr) hasn’t written much for Kagerou Project, but their fic Lullaby For Mon Frére deserves attention.  It warrants a trigger warning for depression and suicide because it deals very directly with Route XX, but it’s also a really unique take on the parallels between the Kisaragi siblings.  They do some subtle things with language to reinforce the comparisons they make that I really love.

If you’ve read Kagerou Project fanfiction, you’ve almost certainly read something by [Bad username or site: thatzodiacsky. @ archiveofourown.org]  They have 60 KagePro fics, which would be an accomplishment all by itself—but, the thing is, all the ones I’ve read are good. They’ve written a huge variety of pairings, as well as a bunch of lovely gen/friendship pieces.  They have a touch for subtle character relationships that really helps their work stand out.  One of their lesser-known fics is Hide Away Come Morning, a beautiful little gen fic starring Hibiya and Seto.

Another well-known author is [archiveofourown.org profile] heartachequistion.  They’re also pretty prolific and writes mostly KagePro.  They do write a variety of genres, but they shine the most when writing fluffy, in-character pairing fics.  I have left their fics feeling physically warmed by how cute they were—even when all characters involved are still their dysfunctional, vitriolic, weird selves. A lot of that is the dialogue—it’s really natural and well-done.    A personal favorite of mine is Reach for the Stars, which is ShinAya and HaruTaka, but they’ve written for a number of other pairings if that’s not your cup of tea.

[archiveofourown.org profile] NoInspirationForMyUsername has also only written one KagePro fic. But 100% Paper Cranes is a pretty spectacular little AU, the kind I’d like to see more of in the fandom.  I love the way the characters interact and the premise itself is really great.  It is a Lost Time Memory AU, though, so proceed with caution if you need to.
